Using iPads To Analyse

As technology develops, analysis of sport is becoming far more in depth... but also easier. There are a number of 'apps' that can be downloaded to help you as the coach. Yes, some can cost a lot of money, such as iCoda... but there are also some great apps that will aid you, and not leave you with an empty wallet.

Ubersense

A great example of this is Ubersense, an app that allows the coach to record an athlete at full speed, and then slow it down into frames. This is great in allowing the athlete (as well as the coach) to look back on a technique and see where there are flaws.

As well as allowing the frame rate to be slowed, Ubersense also enables the coach to show angles. This is perfect for sports such as golf (Figure 1.0) as well as tennis and cricket, in which this makes a huge difference in the effectiveness of a shot.

Coach My Video

Another great example is Coach My Video, which also allows you to create angles to analyse technique, as well as circling or highlighting areas of key importance, such as the positioning of a hand in a throw (Figure 2.0).

The best thing about both of these apps, is that they are FREE to download on the App Store.
